Hundreds turn out for vigil

Hundreds of friends of Sebastian attended a candlelight vigil on July 2, three days after he was slain in his home. The people gathered at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida, where Sebastian had just completed his sophomore year.

Classmate Kristen Gomez remembered Sebastian, telling the crowd that he was “one of those people who walks into the room and the room lights up.” Kristen had known him since they were in middle school.

At the event, Sebastian’s older sister, Maria, said he “was like a rough diamond that had never been touched. He had endless potential.”
